She caught and landed the beautiful multi-spotted 30" red at Cedar Key on our recent kayak fishing trip over the Labor Holiday Weekend.

We were fishing at our favorite area for reds in Cedar Key. We positioned our kayaks to fish a point of gravel, grass and oyster beds at the incoming side of the high tide... Debbie looked down the bank and saw the red tailing by a little out-cropping of grass-covered oyster beds... she eased her kayak down to with-in casting distance... and she nailed him on the second cast... she knows what she is doing and knows how to go after them... we have seen dozens of reds tailing in this area during this trip and others... just a fantastic place to fish...

We were using fresh shrimp, not live or frozen, fished under Old Bayside popping corks. The basics of fresh shrimp technique was shown to us by the long-time Cedar Key fishing Guide Cap. A.J. Brown when we fished with him this past 4th of July. We have fine-tuned his technique by incorporating some new-tech features and have been nailing reds in good numbers and size ever since...

Please let your listeners and readers know about A..J.,  he is fantastic to fish with...he was born and raised in Cedar Key and has been guiding there since the early in the 1970's...Mel,  awesome guy and great stories..
